Vets Field Baseball Park serves a broad community of athletes, hosting local leagues, regional tournaments, and year-round player development. By 2023, the skinned infield had worn unevenly, creating inconsistent footing, unpredictable ball response, and transitional issues between turf and dirt. To restore performance and safety, the park turned to Hummer to deliver a complete infield reconstruction that would elevate the field to true competition-ready standards.
Hummer began by removing the existing skinned surface and outdated infield material, creating a clean foundation for precision work. Using laser-guided grading equipment, the team recontoured the infield to achieve proper slope, smoother transitions, and reliable playability — critical for reducing bad hops and improving athlete safety. After establishing a perfectly tuned grade, Hummer installed a high-quality infield mix engineered for consistent ball response, cleaner traction, and long-term stability under frequent use.
To complete the renovation, Hummer refreshed turf areas adjoining the infield, blending grass and clay interfaces for a professional, polished finish. The project delivered a safer, smoother, and more dependable infield tailored to the needs of local and regional baseball programs — giving athletes a surface they can trust from first pitch to final out.
