The Union enlisted Hummer to deliver a true stadium-grade renovation from the foundation up.
Hummer began by removing the existing natural-grass surface, creating a clean slate for reconstruction. The team amended and tilled the existing sand-based root-zone mix with nutrient additives engineered to improve plant health and long-term sustainability — reducing the need for frequent applications throughout the season. After incorporating and tilling the mix, Hummer used precision laser grading to establish an impeccably level playing surface that supports predictable ball response and athlete safety.
With the foundation perfected, Hummer installed premium Tahoma 31 Bermuda sod, a high-performance variety selected for its durability, density, and ability to recover quickly under heavy use. Seamless installation techniques ensured a smooth, uniform surface that met MLS performance standards. The completed renovation provided Subaru Park with a resilient, professional-quality pitch ready for training, match play, and national broadcasts.
