Tee Box Rebuild.

As one of the region’s premier private golf facilities, Wilmington Country Club—following the 2022 BMW Championship—demands exceptional conditioning across every tee box and practice tee. With high-frequency member use and elevated expectations for playability, aesthetics, and durability, the club required an upgrade that would reinforce its reputation for world-class golf. Hummer Turfgrass Systems was brought in to reconstruct tee boxes and driving range tees with the precision, craftsmanship, and turf expertise the venue is known for.

Hummer began by performing detailed grading and surface preparation, establishing proper elevations, slopes, and surface stability to ensure consistent footing and uniform turf performance. The team enhanced firmness and drainage by installing high-quality root-zone material and blended sand mixes, creating a foundation built to withstand heavy member traffic and year-long play. Once the base profile was perfected, Hummer sodded or seeded the teeing surfaces using premium turf varieties selected specifically for high-wear golf environments.

To complete the project, Hummer integrated seamless transitions between tees, walk-up areas, and surrounding turf, producing a polished, professional aesthetic that blends naturally into the course. All construction phases were carefully coordinated to minimize disruption to member play and club operations. The result was a set of refined, durable, and visually clean tee surfaces that elevate both the playing experience and the overall presentation of Wilmington Country Club.
