This one of a kind project was a new challenge for Hummer Turfgrass Systems.
The scope of work called for laser grading, sod installation and grow-in maintenance of 21 acres of racing surfaces. Hummer’s crew installed an average of 45,000 square feet per day over the month long installation. The permanent irrigation system only covered half of the new sod so Hummer’s irrigation team needed to design, set up and operate a temporary system to cover 10 acres of sod. Following installation the maintenance team was responsible for grow-in maintenance of the track.
